Fees for conveyancing in South Tyneside
Our fees are transparent and, so long as the situation does not change (for example so long as your property doesn't turn out to be leasehold when we thought it was freehold) the fee we quote is the fee you will be charged.
We don't add extras on for things like photocopying, postage, or the like. Those are our overheads and we don't pass them on to you.
All our conveyancing fees are dependent on the nature and value of the transaction, so we naturally charge a bit more for more complicated and high value work. However, the fee charged will be the same for a customer in Newcastle as it would be for someone in London, or indeed in South Tyneside.
There are some aspects of our conveyancing fees which we can't change. Fees charged by other bodies such as HM Land Registry, or by HMRC for Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) are out of our control.
Introduction to South Tyneside
South Tyneside is a metropolitan borough in Tyne and Wear, in the North East of England. South Tyneside is bordered by four other major boroughs: Newcastle upon Tyne and Gateshead to the west, Sunderland in the south and North Tyneside to the north. According to the 2011 Census, the borough's population is 148,127.
Like many British metropolitan boroughs, South Tyneside was formed on the 1st April 1974, through a collaboration of the County Borough of South Shields, along with the municipal borough of Jarrow and the urban districts of Boldon and Hebburn from County Durham.
The largest town in the borough is South Shields, which has a population of 82,854. It is also the main administrative centre in the borough, as well as the economic hub. In the past, shipbuilding, repairing, coal mining and exportation as well as the chemical industry were not just present in South Shields but all over the Borough, like alot of Tyne and Wear.
These industries declined in the north east in the late half of the 20th century, however South Tyneside has done well to reverse this, attracting new service industries, however South Shields has also successfully recovered a considerable amount of its manufacturing industry, with businesses still centered around ship repair, offshore services, engineering, electronics, clothing, furniture and Timber. Tourism also has a increasingly significant role in the area.
Major roads in the area include the A194(M), and the A19, both of which link South Tyneside to the national road network.
Other transport services include the Tyne and Wear Metro, a light rail service connecting South Tyneside to the rest of Tyne and Wear, including Sunderland and Newcastle Central.
A pedestrian ferry also connects South Shields with North Shields.
